Marina di Ravenna and art

Ravenna can be reached just 10 min. away from Marina. The ancient capital of the Western Roman Empire Ravenna is known worldwide for its cultural heritage, in particular the famous mosaics. There are many monuments to visit if you want to set apart a day to art and culture, eight of which were declared by UNESCO Patrimony of Humanity:
- Mausoleum of Galla Placidia (first half of the fourth century, post 426 A.D.)
- Neoniano (430 A.D. or so, decorated to the 458 A.D.)
- Archbishop`s Chapel (500 A.D.)
- Basilica of St. Apollinaire Nuovo `(early sixth century, with partial redecoration in the second half of the sixth century)
- Mausoleum of Theodoric (520 A.D. approx)
- Arian Baptistery (first half of the sixth century)
- Basilica of San Vitale (first half of the sixth century)
- Basilica of Sant `Apollinaire in Classe (consecrated in 547 A.D.)



Do not forget also the tomb of the great italian poet, Dante Alighieri, which can be seen in the historic centre of town.
Ravenna is also rich in cultural initiatives and events. It just needs to mention Ravenna Festival, whose activities, as stated in the statute, "are directed to concerts, opera, dance, theatre in its various expressions and entertainment in general.
